Ayurveda uses hundreds of herbs, but a few show up again and again. Here is a plain-language, educational look at three of the most common — what tradition says, and what modern research is exploring. None of this is a prescription; talk to a qualified practitioner and your doctor before starting any herb, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or on medication.
Ashwagandha
Traditionally used as a rasayana (rejuvenative) and adaptogen, ashwagandha is associated with resilience to stress. Some clinical studies report reductions in perceived stress, though evidence is still developing.
Triphala
A blend of three fruits (amalaki, bibhitaki, haritaki), triphala is traditionally used to support digestion and regularity.
Turmeric
Valued for its warming, cleansing qualities, turmeric (and its compound curcumin) is widely studied for its role in a healthy inflammatory response.
A note on safety
"Natural" does not mean "risk-free." Herbs can interact with medicines and vary in quality. Educational information here is not medical advice.
