How does Ayurveda approach resetting sleep after periods of stress or irregular schedules?

By Reshmi VijayakumaranKaya Guru Verified

Many people experience disrupted sleep during stressful life events, travel, shift work, or extended periods of late nights. Even after the stressful period has passed, it can be difficult to return to a healthy sleep rhythm. Which lifestyle practices, evening routines, dietary adjustments, or daily habits are considered most effective for gently restoring natural sleep over time?

I believe restoring sleep to its natural rhythm is not an isolated task. How we spend the day is just as important as how we spend the night in influencing sleep. Regular and appropriate meals, adequate physical activity, and a peaceful wind-down before sleep are all part of it. Measures such as oil application may also be beneficial in appropriate individuals. Ultimately, restoring sleep is usually a gradual process. As the underlying imbalance settles, sleep returns naturally.

Thank you for this perspective. I especially liked the idea that daytime habits shape nighttime sleep. Restoring healthy sleep is gradual and that patience is part of the healing process.
